Budgens is proud to support Fairtrade

Fairtrade products are grown by small farmers and producers in third world countries. The aim of Fairtrade is to guarantee these growers a 'minimum price' for their products, to help them build a sustainable future for themselves, their families and the local communities they live in.

The Fairtrade Mark

For a product to display the FAIRTRADE Mark it must meet international Fairtrade standards which stipulate that traders must:
  • Pay a price to producers that covers the costs of sustainable production & living
  • Pay a ‘premium’ that producers can invest in development
  • Make partial advance payments when requested by producers
  • Sign contracts that allow for long term planning & sustainable production practices.
